The magnitude and effects of counterfeiting and piracy are of such significance that they compel strong and sustained action from governments, business and consumers. More effective enforcement of intellectual property rights is critical in this regard, as is the need to build public support to combat the counterfeiting and piracy.
A new EU funded Twinning Project on “Strengthening the enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights” will be launched on 28 January 2016 at 10:00 in the premises of EU Info Center, EU Delegation Building.
The main speakers at this event will be Mr. Aivo Orav, Head of EU Delegation to the beneficiary country; Mr. Bekim Neziri, Minister of Economy; Representatives of the State Office for Industrial Property, the Customs Administration and the Danish Patent and Trademark Office will also be present.
The objective of this EU Twinning Project is to provide further alignment of national legislation with the EU, capacity building, awareness raising in the area of enforcement and protection of Intellectual Property Rights. The project financed by European Union with a budget of EUR 1.398,093 will be implemented during the next 19 months.
The Twinning Project is implemented by Danish Patent and Trademark Office in corporation with the State Office for Industrial Property and the Customs Administration. A successful outcome of the Twinning Project be achieved only by appropriate support and inclusion of the relevant enforcement institutions, such as Ministry of Interior, State Market Inspectorate, Academy of Judges and Public Prosecutors and Ministry of Culture.
